CrossFit for Beginners: What to Expect in Your First Class
Most people put off their first class for months because they don't know what happens inside. Here's the whole thing, start to finish.
The hour, broken down
Roughly 10 minutes of warm-up, about 20 minutes on a strength or skill piece, then the workout itself — usually 8 to 20 minutes — and a cool-down.
A coach runs the entire session. You are never handed a piece of paper and left alone.
Scaling is normal, not a downgrade
Every movement has a version that fits your current ability. Pull-ups become ring rows. Barbells lose weight. Runs get shorter.
Experienced members scale too, based on how they're recovering. It's a training tool, not a beginner label.
What to bring
Training shoes with a flat-ish sole, comfortable clothes and water. That's it.
No booking is needed for your free trial. Arrive 20 minutes before a scheduled class so your coach can show you around and ask about injuries and experience.
Will I be sore?
Probably a little for the first week or two. Your coach will keep volume sensible on purpose — the goal is a second class, not a heroic first one.
How often should you go?
Two to three times a week is plenty to start. Most members settle at three or four once the routine sticks.
Ready to try it?
Your first class is free. No booking needed. Just turn up 20 minutes before any scheduled class starts, meet the coach and enjoy your free session.
